There are lots of places to take photos at Stones River Battlefield in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. One of the best and often overlooked spots is away from the main battlefield area. Traveling toward Nashville on Hwy 41, after passing Thompson Lane take a left onto Van Cleve Lane and go to the end. There is a nice spot with lots of large boulders, rail fences, and trees. It borders on the greenway and the West Fork of the Stones River. Plan on spending about an hour shooting here.
