Covered bridges are just cool. Even if you are not into photography, visiting covered bridges is a refreshing dip into yesteryear! The bridge pictured just above and below is a little out of the typical Middle Tennessee photo op area but I just love this bridge. It’s the Clarkson Covered Bridge (pedestrian only) near Cullman, Alabama.
Another bridge in Alabama is just outside Huntsville on the trail which surrounds the lake at the Madison County Nature Trail. This is a large lake and the bridge crosses at a small inlet. The Cambron Covered Bridge is long enough to take great pictures inside and out. Using the bridge a background in a long shot is possible also.
If you are looking for something closer, the third image here is a covered bridge just outside Bell Buckle. This is an actual working bridge with daily traffic. This little gem of a covered bridge is just outside Bell Buckle on Emily Lane (off Liberty Pike). There is no parking so you must pull over on the roadside.
Points of Interest:
- Inside bridge – large rough beams
- Stone work on bridge entrances
- Bridge as background
- Shoot from road
- Shoot from below bridge along creekside
Preparation:
- Wear something colorful, bridge is worn grayish wood.
The bridge pictured below is also close to Manchester but it is on private property. If you are interested getting a picture here, let me know and I’ll call for permission.
