Sewanee Cross

The Sewanee Memorial Cross is a large white cross on the campus of the University of the South. It was built in 1922 as a memorial to the soldiers of WWI and now is also dedicated those from the university and from Franklin County in all subsequent wars.

Below you will see images taken with the cross prominent in the frame or used as a background. Some are close and some further away. They give you an idea of the variety of shots available in and around the cross.

High school seniors often like photos at the cross for many reasons. The site is pretty, with a great view of the valley below.  It is a spiritual place and a great place for a family picnic or spending some quiet time alone.

One of the great things about the photo ops at the cross is all the angles and perspectives. The area is well maintained with large trees and open shade so you can get a good picture in bright sun.

The Sewanee Cross is also a good place for engagement photos, bridal session (see above), or family photos. It is a place special to the Sewanee community, Franklin County residents, and everyone that has visited it.
